Story behind the song
I wrote a song about a blond who frequented the lunch room at college. The buxom feminine beauty that Pretty Poison was written for never heard the song because when I wrote it the song was just a bass line and an idea that she and I would never be good for each other because to me she was a pretty poison.
Lyrics
I saw you walking down the street just the other day
Oh, you’re the kind of girl I’d like to meet, but baby it’s no way.
Cause I could tell that you’re gonna be bad for me, honey, yea.
I could tell that you’re gonna be bad for me, baby, yea.
You’re a pretty poison, You’re a pretty poison.
You see I was, oh, so lonely and I knew a girl like you
And she came and tore my life and served my heart back to me
And I don’t, and I don’t know where she came from
Now I don’t know where, oh where she is…she’s a pretty poison
Oh, just like you, she’s a pretty poison.
4x Grrrr, she’s just a pretty poison Mmmmmm She’s just a pretty poison
Well morning came and left my heart alone in the street
I was like a homeless man with nothing left to love or eat.
And now she’s gone, she took all I had inside
Yea that evil, evil woman took me for a ride.
She’s a pretty poison…oh, pretty poison, pretty poison, pretty poison, yea
Good God, Oh, she’s a pretty poison yea
Oh you know it blows against the empty windows of my heart
Oh, it just ain’t right. It just ain’t right
Against the windows of my heart
And it just ain’t right, see it just ain’t right
Ain’t right Ain’t right Ain’t right Ain’t right Ain’t right
Oh, that pretty poison, oh that pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty poison.
