Originally from Wisconsin, David's main instrument is trumpet, though he has also played professionally in bands on guitar, keyboard, drums, bass and vocals. David has performed and arranged for Walt Disney World, Meredith McCrae, Tom Wopat, Melissa Manchester, Ice Capades, Fabian, Bobby Rydell, The Four Freshman, and Little Anthony and the Imperials, and Sam Rivers and the Rivbea Orchestra.

Story behind the song
Higher Ground (Romans 8:28) (Copyright 2004) Words and Music by David L. Jones As some of my songs do, I woke up with the hook (in this case, the vocal back-ground) of this tune in my head. This recording was done in 1988 on an 8-chan-nel reel to reel tape deck (old technology). It holds up pretty well compared to the digital recordings. Faith in God won’t get you around troubles, Faith in God will ensure He gets you through them.

When life’s troubles start to rise and I begin to think that I might drown, He lifts me up to higher ground. Though I walk on sinking sand with trials and tribulations all around, He lifts me up to higher ground. Higher Ground, oh, Higher Ground, He lifts me up to higher ground. When the temptor sets his snare I seek the One whose love has known no bounds, the One who stands on higher ground. And if possessions come and go I know how to be abased and to abound, ‘cause He lifts me up to higher ground.
