TK da Lyricist was born in the Yeadon section of Delaware County, PA, right outside of Southwest Philadelphia and moved to the Bensalem/Trevose area of Bucks County at a young age. He first started falling in love with hip hop when he bought his first tape: “E1999 Eternal” by Bone Thugs N- Harmony. “I never went anywhere without that tape in my walkman,” says TK about his first album bought, “It was at that moment that I knew I wanted to let the world hear my story.” By the age of twelve, he started rapping on his own, collaborating with various local DJ's and recording in different studios. During his teenage years he never lost touch of his lyrical talent as he spent a lot of time battling other rappers in high schools and other spots around Philly making a name for himself. In the years that followed his battling career, he adopted the name TK (Track Killa) due to his ability to make great tracks and added “da Lyricist” to show insight into his hip hop style. After some trouble with the law he joined the Marine Corps in 2007. During his deployment in Iraq, he started seriously focusing his energy on his music and has been grinding hard since his discharge in 2011. “While in Iraq, it was at that moment that I said ‘now is my time’. I just knew that if I could make it through a warzone and back, by the grace of God, that I could do anything.” The reason TK da Lyricist chooses to rap is because he loves the music. “When I did the “Back Against the Wall” mixtape with 215 Chyze, we recorded all eighteen tracks in 17 hours total. I love recording. I love making innovative new songs that combine the ‘fun’ vibe with thoughtful and creative lyrics. I could record all day, sleep in the studio, wake up, and do it again. It’s my passion.” His style is described as a revolutionary new combination of catchy, melodic tunes mixed with what he describes as “more than bars”. “I like to make people think. I like to make them say ‘wow that was creative the way he put that together’. That’s my satisfaction.”
