Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
Music was developed from tiny idea produced by some random melody software. Lyric idea came from Dana Perino, during "The Five", on Aug. 5, 2013. The topic was the war on terror, and Dana made the observation that "war is tiring", and that there was a need for vigilance.
Lyrics
(v1) Life is a spiritual battle. God hates that we have to be in it. But He's assigned a veteran to help us win it. Jesus walked in these trenches, when it was easy, when it was hard. He never dozed off while on duty. He always stayed on guard. (c1) War is tiring ... requiring us to stay alert, So when the devil runs an 'op', he's the one who ends up hurt. (v2) When Jesus walked on earth, he gave this press release: 'There is an unseen enemy, who has no taste for peace.' So tune into Christ's attention span, even when you rest, (wake up) So ten years down the road, you're still giving God your best. (c2) War is tiring ... requiring us to stay awake. So when the devil makes a move, it becomes his mistake. (bridge) Why jump into this fray? Why fight this battle every day? How 'bout the same reason as Christ?... Helping people 'super size' their life. (c3) War is tiring, yet inspiring, when Christ speaks to the troops. So stay alert, stay awake, keep yourself inside the loop.
