Lake Fork Verne and his banjo. Original country and Americana songs. Songs of yesteryear, growing up during the great depression 1930's and the way things are
Just me and my banjo...writing and singing about how things used to be long ago in the 30;s and 40's and how those experiences affect today. I started out wanting to get on record these stories and songs for my grandchildren; but after doing it for a while, others have expresses interest so we are recording and putting them out there.

Story behind the song
In wintertime to stay warm at nite in bed, we would wrap heated rocks in paper or rags and place at foot of bed to stay warm.
Lyrics
Heated Rocks At Foot of the Bed Copyright by: Verne Garrison April 13, 2010, Valley Park Mo Banjo tuned E, Capo 3, Key of A A D A A farm house in the thirties E Had no form of central heat A D A The bed rooms were super cold E A This is how we warmed our feet A D A On those cold winter nights, E We went a-shivering from foot to head A D A To our feather-bed, with heavy comfort E A With a sack of heated rocks at the foot of the bed D A Yes, a sack of heated rocks, E At the foot of the bed A D A Put a stop to chattering teeth E A Cause we had warm feet instead D A We'd pull the comfort up over our head E And sleep so very tight A D A With a sack of heated rocks E A At the foot of our bed
