Folk singer, social commentary, satire, people's stories, children's music
Hi Folks, The Bard Insurgent here. My comrade D.O. (the Poet Roofer) and I got that handle (The Bard Insurgents) from traveling town to town performing songs and poetry about people's lives. I've been performing since I was 3 years old, cutting my vocal chords on liturgical and classical music. I was a concert soloist as a child, when I wasn't herding cows, throwing hay and shoveling manure. During the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam war, I began writing songs about social change. I left the country in 1970 and my dozen years in other countries, mostly in Africa & South America, have provided a global perspective to my music. My travels helped me realize that people all around the world are essentially the same in their basic life needs and their desires to live peacefully in their communities. These experiences have informed my commitment to working for international understanding as I organize at home. A powerful way to educate and inspire is with music. I tell people's stories, do social commentary with a touch of satire that I hope you enjoy and share with your friends, as well as sing together in the streets and in your living rooms. I also have children's music written for the children in my life with Jacob and Kayla as primary muses. Looking forward to seeing you on the road, Tom

Story behind the song
An account of GMO food that is being pushed by Obama and Congress in spite of the research showing genetic manipulation to be unsafe; that GMO food is increasingly being banned around the world; and particularly the presence of glyphosate.
Lyrics
Frankenfish racing to your dish Don’t want to be late for dinner High fructose corn syrup, salt, sugar and fat Ain’t makin you any thinner. Obesity, type 2 diabetes Waiting for you on your plate GMO splice -- and spice with glyphosate If you’re not feeling nice, - could be something that you ate. Genetically Engineered Salmon - is the frankenfish of late From Anchorage to Birminghamin; - a modified genetic date If you get a bit of cancer -- The answer could be something that you ate. High fructose corn syrup, salt, sugar, and fat - Type 2 diabetes comin with that If your tummy’s feelin crummy as you regurgitate - Could be something you ate. After fornicating, and gestating, sterilize to keep from mating Then on to your liver and your kidneys It’s just passin through, leavin genome residue and assorted other DNA debrizees Glyphosate is in my urine every time I pee Monsanto is assurin no weeds will grow in me. Inside from my feet to my heady I’m bonafide round up ready. High fructose corn syrup, salt, sugar, and fat Type 2 diabetes comin with that If your tummy’s feelin crummy as you regurgitate Could be something you ate. Obama say it’s ok, Monsanto gotta have their way, Cause he’s the Monsanto president It’s not about the food, we know. It’s about the profit flow Of money to the 1% And if it’s safe, why keep it a secret. No info on the label. Why not declare it unless you are scared of it Not being bought for the table. High fructose corn syrup, salt, sugar, and fat - Type 2 diabetes comin with that If your tummy is crummy as you regurgitate Could be something you ate
