Story behind the song
Music performed by Mike Bennett & Michael Duran Guitars, Synths, Bass, Percussion, FX “If you've done 6 impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe? ...and the Universe, ... will explode later for your pleasure.” The Hitchhiker's Guide theme music adapted from "Journey of the Sorcerer" by Bernie Leadon from The 1975 Eagles album "One of These Nights". Voice clips from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Episode 5, first Broadcast on BBC Two, February 2nd 1981. Garkbit (Head Waiter): Jack May Arthur Dent: Simon Jones Zaphod Beeblebrox: Mark Wing-Davey Trillian: Sandra Dickinson Outro voice clip Eddie the Shipboard Computer: Tom Lennon, from the 2005 movie version. After an initial period of confusion, the four travellers find they have been transported forward in time to just before the end of the universe. They are in Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, which was built on the ruins of Magrathea. So, as Arthur says, they have travelled through time but not through space. Waiting for them is Marvin the depressed robot, who they left on Magrathea millions of years ago. He's now an attendant at the car park, and still depressed. Just before the universe ends, Zaphod and Ford get Marvin to help them steal a supercool all-black spaceship, which turns out to be a "Sun Dive" stunt ship, the property of a very loud rock band called Disaster Area. The episode ends in a cliff-hanger as the black ship is about to start a dive into the sun of Kakrafoon.

Great idea and creativity. Fantastic story. Very unusual.
Highly creative, Mike and Michael!! You have more than accomplished your music objectives in this tune. The story told is most entertaining as well as the classic musicianship displayed to "illustrate" the story line explained in the song's information. This was an excellent song for the CBC Time Travel September 2013 Song Challenge.

How did you come to this, Mike? A restaurant out of space and time? As far as I assume you don't need food there at all, because you are only spirit (but nobody is 100%sure of it). Very catchy music and talking voices here and a original way of ending. I really enjoyed the surprises everywhere.

That restaurant sounds amazing! I am not sure what they serve, but I am sure their dinner music is top class! Very creative and a great patchwork of styles of very well played instruments. Great groove and well produced also!

Oh brilliant!! I was a resident of Islington in the early 80s (er.. obviously I travelled back in time to do this... ahem) and was familiar with many of the names and locations in the books (I even had a flat over a newsagents called "H. Dent" and always wondered) and was of course a major fan of HHGTTG. Outstanding piece of psychedelic grooving you men :D

Really clever use of, well, everything. I really like the kinda of funkiness about this one. Far out and humorous intro...Well done as usual guys...Always interesting stuff from you two. PS- I like to title too. Like I said, everything -
I'm a giant D. Adams fan, so I was stoked just from the title. The music captures the sci-fi feel from those original broadcasts perfectly but with an updated twist. A great combo of talents here guys!

Amusing cinematic intro followed by a solid rock groove topped with synth fireworks and spacy effects. This is coming from the future surely. Brilliant collab work from the genious Mikes D and B.
