Live acoustic pass of Boat of Sorrow with drums. Two lines are borrowed from William Butler Yeats poem - The Cloak, The Boat and Shoes, but the rest of the lyrics take it in a whole other direction.

Story behind the song
The song started with a couple lines from William Butler Yeats poem - The Cloak, The Boat and Shoes, but the rest of the lyrics take it in a whole other direction. I tried to do a more uptempo version and it just didn't fit the song. This one pass demo seems to capture that dark spirit that fits the lyrics and it just maybe one of the darkest songs I've done. Lyrically it has a classical poem feel, so I will let it self interpret.
Lyrics
1. Lingering unfamiliar hands Mouths gasping for air Buried my tears in your hair Oh that time could remember youth Love used up kiss by kiss Never give all your heart Surrendering all your hope, Only to be left with none CHO 2. Of pen and paper, ink and blood Words eulogizing dead love There’s no flame left in the past Only dust and anger I weave the shoes of sorrow* And in old age I shall wear them in the light I will only recall unspent tomorrow’s And I will give up the fight I build a boat of sorrow – Old and Gray and full of sleep Full of passionless tomorrow’s as passions fall asleep Of sun and moon and hollow wood Where love does not stay where it should 3. Nothing here but nothing there Mortal wounds and earthy cares A chance at memories half remembered And love not properly tended Opportunities lost in time Youth tends toward the blind There’s always time to build A boat built of sorrow Cho * Lines borrowed from William Butler Yeats – The Cloak, The Boat and Shoes
