A contemporary love song with a melancholy twist
A unique blend of jazz, neoclassicism, expressionism and Spirit.
When God gives you a gift you have two choices: Use it for your own glory or share it for His glory. The latter is better.
Story behind the song
I was in high school when I wrote the lyrics and developed the musical themes. It took me until now to score the work and make a recording.
Lyrics
Silent falls the wind, I hear a voice that is calling your name
Calling from within, my heart responds as my soul does the same
A tingling sensation, the chills up my spine bring to mind
All those memories saved up through time from my youth,
From my childhood, the first love that ever was mine
Listening to the waves, the roar of the ocean, the crash on the shore
I hear a melody in the depth of the sea that I've heard once before
The sound of a violin's strings being played to the
Tune of a sweet serenade that was made for
Romancing the evening away with a girl whom I loved,
On the day I would say:
"Set sail for the stars, cast away in the moonlight
On an ocean of crystal adrift in my arms
Come glide on the waters, come search the horizon
And sail through the darkness to find a new light"
Pounded by the rain, blasted with thunder and struck from the sky
An island far away whispers my echo, a haunting reply
As two fight in a tempest, two struggling wills to survive
Like the sand that is pulled by the tide
And alive for the moment, a surging of love will abide and will
Swell through the night (to a breathless goodbye)
Set sail for the stars, cast away in the moonlight
On an ocean of crystal adrift in my arms
Come glide on the waters, come search the horizon
And sail through the darkness to find a new light
Set sail for the stars, cast away in the moonlight
On an ocean of crystal adrift in your arms
We'll glide on the waters, we'll search the horizon
We'll sail through the darkness to find a new light,
We'll find a new light
Set sail for the stars, cast away in the moonlight
On our ocean of crystal adrift in my arms
We'll glide on the waters, we'll search the horizon
We'll sail through the darkness and find a new light
Now the storm has gone, and the sea has been muffled, the dark changed to dawn
No mem'ries have returned; the love song is over, the feeling is gone
One last hush from the wind, then just as it had been,
All was silent . . again
