Class is in session.
Blue Scholars emerge with a distinct, progressive sound for the people after countless years growing up in hip-hop's true school. The formidable emcee-deejay/producer combination of Geologic and Sabzi crafts refreshing yet traditional hip-hop music to make your body move while expressing honest reflections about life.
The self-titled debut cohesively flows through its 11 songs resurrecting the lost art form of constructing a complete album. Entirely vocalized by Geologic and produced by Sabzi, Blue Scholars achieves a consistency only heard from duos like Gang Starr, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, and EPMD.
Ranging from politics to battle raps, each composition serves as an anthem for different emotions and moods. The timeless forthcoming single "Freewheelin" appeals to b-boys, emcee, deejays, and writers alike by capturing the essence of hip-hop culture. And the comforting flavor of the b-side "Sagaba" ends the album in a feel-good fashion.
At least until the next listen from start to finish.
