Short song bewailing the ills arising from a big garden no longer suited to its original purpose. Tenor Mandola and Octave Mandolin accompany my croaky vocal. Recorded on a Yamaha Pocketrak PR7 with just a tad of tweaking in the DAW.

Story behind the song
The idea and some of the words hit me when I was mowing the lawn and was eyeing the yet to be completed demolition of the ivy that has rampantly engulfed a lot of the garden wall.
Lyrics
WHAT STARTED OFF AS A GOOD IDEA (Chorus) What started off as a Good Idea Has turned to dust I rather fear We went into this with many a hope But it's sometimes now like a very bad joke We got a nice big garden, the kids could play soccer They've grown up now, the garden's our mocker The ivy on the wall is totally rampant My gardening enthusiasm's suddenly dampened Chorus The mower blades are caked with damp grass Mowing when it's wet is a bit of a farce The chute to the catcher is totally blocked My wishes for a quiet day - they are mocked Chorus I've stopped for the day, it's got so cloudy Black skies threaten, the days turned lousy Forecast's rain, gardening is nixed Oh Sod! Did I get that roof fixed? Chorus [By VikingBlues 2014]
