The Stantons started life as a hybrid of country and indie pop marrying banjo, boy/girl vocals and various folk and alt.country-flavoured instruments.
Their debut album, “Welcome To Stanton Country” quickly gained praise from the likes of Is This Music?, The Daily Record, Radio 1 and The Skinny. Gigging with the likes of Monica Queen (Thrum) and Southern Tenant Folk Union at Tigerfest, El Rancho Relaxo, Leith Folk Club and Kelburn Garden Party helped spread the word and gain the band an enduring fan base.
Now with a more eclectic sound, their recently released album, “Le Cirque de Muerta” mixes songs drawing from the traditions of gypsypop, American folk, sea-shanties and acoustica.
For the release of “Le Cirque de Muerta”, the band devised a unique coming together of music and theatre, showcasing live performances of songs from the album blended together with a specially written piece of live theatre which was set to a backdrop of projected visuals.
