The Tapestry
An ancient weathered tapestry hangs from the castle wall
Faded reds and muted greens like colours at nightfall.
Dewdrops glisten like diamonds sparkling in the night
The full moon shines upon her face , a cold and ghostly white.
Wind fans the flames of her fiery red hair
Her feet upon the deadly Asp, her arms raised in prayer
Reciting long forgotten spells from runes carved in the stone
A smile on her blood red lips whispers to me “come home”.
Then a wrenching twisted sensation as the doors crash open wide
Howling screaming banshee winds draw me deep inside
Darkness envelops me, my heart fills with dread
Yet the apparition beckons me to lie upon the bed...
Of cold grey stone, and rusted iron chain
The Lady of the Tapestry who soon will feed again
But willingly I lie upon my final resting place
And for one fleeting moment, pray for God’s eternal grace
Eerie silence deafens me, my face she starts to stroke
Blood rushes with anticipation of her fangs deep in my throat
