Story behind the song
Going through my sound fonts experimenting with new orchestral instruments, FX and ambient synths. Masterkey61 MIDI Keyboard & Fishman TriplePlay MIDI Guitar Synth. Music by Michael Duran; "0-8-4" is the second episode of the first season of the American television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It originally aired on ABC on October 1, 2013. The episode was written by Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, and Jeffrey Bell, and directed by David Straiton. According to Nielsen Media Research, "0-8-4" was watched by 8.66 million viewers in its original airing. Picking up immediately after "Pilot", "0-8-4" sees Skye (Chloe Bennet) accept Agent Phil Coulson's (Clark Gregg) offer to join his S.H.I.E.L.D. team as a consultant. Though Agents Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) and Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) advise against her recruitment, citing her hacktivist background and lack of S.H.I.E.L.D. training, Coulson realizes that Skye can be beneficial to them because she does not think like an agent. The team goes to Peru to investigate a reported 0-8-4, which they determine is powered by the Tesseract, a part of a UFO engine, making it extremely dangerous. Unknown to the Agents at this time, is the fact that Colson's miraculous survival from wounds inflicted during his 'last' mission is due to a serum derived from an alien "0-8-4" and kept secret from him by memory reconstruction to mask the agony he went through during the process which drove him to insanity. Also unknown to the team and even Skye, is her mysterious past as an orphan hides the fact that she is herself an 0-8-4, being protected from the knowledge by shadowy forces deep within S.H.I.E.L.D.

Huge soundscape to the extreme! The multitude of sounds seem to come in and out from every direction but well balanced. The tension rises in places where it feels like it will explode. It has a fine cinematic quality to it as if it was recorded in surround sound. Great track!

Big cinematic sound! Fantastic composition, love all the little touches in between the grander parts - they all play an important role in conveying the soul and mood of this piece. A lot happening sound-wise, but it all blends, balances and weaves perfectly. The movie makers need to hear this!

This was fun, a great big cinematic flight over (or through) the Peruvian jungles perhaps. A hint of suspense, tension, exploration, other worldliness, and something hiding out there...... perhaps. Marvel-ous.
