Story behind the song

I composed one verse and chorus decades ago, but didn't find the balance to record or play it. Then I remembered it for this album, and tried three times, unsuccessfully, to get the syncopation right. When I switched the key to A, wrote the second verse, and it happened. It became a summary for the album, in spite of being a different feel, and the time shift of its being half old half new
