Story behind the song
The guitar (probably of Kay brand name) is one I scavenged from a trash bin in my hometown of Chicago. It had a broken neck which I glued back together and some missing parts which I replaced. The oakwood one-piece saddle-bridge I carved with a knife my brother gave me. The nut I made from a piece of whitetail deer antler. The amp is a Fender M-80 which I found discarded in another Chicago alley. (Hey maybe there is something to be said of scavenger as an occupation.) The abrupt ending of the song is due to the demise of the battery in my wife's camera, which I used to make the video.
Lyrics
Seems like I heard that lonesome Sunnyland blow. Sounds just like she won't be back no more. I feel bad this morning, feel like I want to cry. My Baby rode that train, and she didn't even say goodbye. I got a letter from my Baby, and she said she was coming home. You know I love you Baby, but seem like it's been too long. Good by everybody. I am going back down that sunny road. Because I can't make nothing in Chicago but my room and board.
