DESCENDANTS OF ASAPH Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music. Lyrics
PROUD TO SERVE Lord your mighty army Is striding across the land Sweeping aside its enemies By the power of Your outstretched hand Warriors, fierce and valiant Wielding a two edged sword Following in the footsteps of Their ever victorious Lord And I'm proud to stand In the midst of this mighty throng Proud to stand Among the ranks of the mighty Among the ranks of the armies of the Lord Deep in the heart of battle Waxing valiant in our fight Relentless in the struggle As the enemy takes flight We must tarry just a little longer The victory is nearly won Faith prevails, death is vanquished In power His kingdom comes And I'm proud to stand In the midst of this mighty throng Proud to stand Among the ranks of the mighty Among the ranks of the armies of the Lord And I'm proud to serve In the midst of this mighty throng Proud to serve Under the bloodstained banner Of the mighty, victorious Eternal, invincible Lord Copyright 2002 Alan Paul
