Is it just me, or is everybody nowadays living right on the ragged edge? No it's just me.

Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
*** STOP PRESS *** Updated version amazingly remastered by Densyl uploaded 1 Aug. Thanks Denis for adding some much needed magic! So I had the riff, and was pretty pleased with it. But a quick count up of the total number of chords it contained revealed a disappointing tally of, well, two. Imagine the embarrassment - even Status Quo usually managed three. So I crawled back under my stone for a few hours of thrashing about on various guitars and I'm delighted to announce that the song now boasts all twelve major chords, without resorting to a key change or the cycle of fifths. Whether it works or not I'll let you decide.
Lyrics
I didn't know her from Eve, but she seemed the very model of grace and contentment. She said "I'm glad that's what you perceive but the truth is, shall we say, a little different - I'm on a runaway train going far too fast for the narrow track and I'm just about off the rails - just about the point when you can't claw back. I'm wrestling with the controls, watching helpless as the scene unfolds." I guess that's how it goes - what you think is rock-solid is really just hanging by a thread. Sheer luck I suppose - avoiding disaster by a hair's breadth. Trying to make sense of the world, in a state of dazed astonishment that we haven't yet hit the wall, as we wait for fate to serve punishment, meanwhile wrestling with the controls - watching helpless as the scene unfolds.

Another brilliant rock epos from you. Steve. Catchy guitar riffs and very nice chord changes. Your playing is sharp as a razor blade and the hook line "Wrestling with..." stays in your head long after you heard it.
Marshall stacks on 11, bass shaking the floor, and a truly inventive song that makes you lose control. And those chord changes are a real tongue twister. Fantastic clear sound with tons of power. This one makes me wrestle with the volume control - turn it up!
