If it's hot then give God the glory. If it's not then blame Mitch.
I'm Joe Johnson a local United Methodist Pastor. Before I felt God calling me into the ministry I thought I was going to be a rap artist. For 8 years I did nothing with music until my wife introduced me to a group called "The Gospel Gansters" in 1998. It was an eye opening experience. I was amazed to see people using rap for the glory of God. That day I picked up paper and pen and I haven't put it down yet.

Lyrics
Monster They try and paint me a monster So a monster I’ll be They’re tell me to calm down. I tell em better get your hands off of me. They try and paint me a monster, so a monster I’ll be They tell me I’m nothing, So I’ll be who they raised me to be. See the monster in me I’ve been called no good and labelled hardheaded They say down the wrong path is where my life is headed I’m a juvenile delinquent in trouble quite frequent Society turned her back, I’m getting the silent treatment I’ve Shunned by mothers , and abandoned by fathers Mislead by brothers, and rejected by daughters This aint just societies fault I deserve most of the blame But when you see no hope for the future then life’s just a game And if you try to come at me about it I’ll disrespect you and curse I’ll try and hurt you before you discern my hidden hurts Now They call me a bad seed they say I’m buck wild But they also say it takes a whole village to raise a child They try and paint me a monster So a monster I’ll be They tell me to calm down. I tell em better get your hands off of me. They try and paint me a monster, so a monster I’ll be They tell me I’m nothing, So I’ll be who they raised me to be. See the monster in me Kids that are the hardest love they say need it the most We need to treat them like gifts they are instead of like foes Do whatever we can to help em understand Teach each to develop into a strong women or man This aint the survival of the fittest, where we just forget the weakest If we throw away our children they’ll come back to haunt us Cuz When we messed up God didn’t throw us away Instead he sent his own son Jesus to show us the way He paid a price with his life to make us his own He adopted us into his family and made us a home So mentor the children, even when they act hard Cuz they’re not really monster they’re a child of God. Will someone to be a mentor, a mentor for me Someone who can guide, and take the time to understand me Wont someone be a mentor, a mentor for me, Tell me I can be anything and I’ll be what you raise me to be Is there a mentor for me? A hundred years from now no one will care what kind of car you drove What kind of clothes you wore or how many stocks you sold all those things will slip into obscurity But what you do for God in the Life of a child will last for eternity one day those kids will be adults in the village too And the way they treat the children will be influenced by you So make an investment that will return more than millions Be a mentor in the lives of our children.
