Lyrics
This Old Barn copyright Chris Kent 2004 This Old Barn We Built it years before This Old Barn A Single broken door Where my grandpa used to work Cutting hay until it hurt He'd stack it high to fill the loft And it was yellow smooth and soft And We would jump from off the raft[er] And bury ourselves first to last Under the lies that we shared This Old Barn Where my brother used to play This Old Barn In the dawn light fades away Where we'd dance with fireflies Until the moonlight caught our eyes Where we'd laugh and where we'd cry And our dreams filled up inside The little wonders of our youth They take us back to hear the truth Under the lies that we shared This Old barn Tall upon the hill This old barn I can see the fire still How it burned into the night We hauled rain with all our might Tried to stop the heat and smoke It made us warm it made us choke Deep inside the mortal flame I saw for me from where it came Under the lies that we shared [Instrumental break] This old Barn Gray on every side This Old Barn Couldn't help but catch my eye It brought the past back in the air Of every summer lacking care And any dreams would be forgot As wooden planks began to rot Turning churning in the ground And all that's left is what's been found Under the lies that we shared
