Story behind the song
*WARNING* If you would rather enjoy this piece of art and have it come to mean something truly unique to you, do not read the backstory. Just as the band “Aerosmith” once criticized the music video industry of robbing fans from having their own visions of imagery associated to a song and supplanting it with some “official” footage, so too can knowing a songs backstory potentially come to rob it of having some special place and meaning for you. Or both can exist. It’s all really subjective. Proceed with understanding. Thank you, V The Official Backstory This song is about suicide. It is about that sense of scope you get when you imagine how infinitesimal you are in the universe, and how no matter what, nothing you or anyone else does in life truly matters or amounts to anything of any lasting value over the infinite course of time, within the infinite expanse of space, and if you truly can't stand life such as it is, you always have this last layer of control in your ability to choose when to end it on your terms. This song is also about how dangerously alluring that idea can sometimes be, and presents the entire dynamic in a way reminiscent of a mermaid singing a siren's song to sailors - a folklore where men would throw their selves from ships to their respective deaths captivated and entranced by the singing. I also imagined "Death" in this song as a literal female character. Im my mind, she was very much like Didi from Neil Gaiman's comic series "Death: The High Cost Of Living". Lastly, this song was also supposed to be a warning to that seduction - a reminder to have strength, that nothing worth doing is easy, to not take the path of least resistance since that is exactly what makes the river crooked.

Under The Gun © 1994 Vagenda. All rights reserved (Composed at age 17) (Recorded on October 12, 2015) She dances on moonlight In her I confide Her lips have a healing power Her names suicide My life seems so much better Under the Gun My blood stains Under the Gun My minds been burnt to a cinder Under this Sun Death seems warm and tender Her latent seduction Fills my empty soul She comforts my pain until again Were out of control My life seems so much better Under the Gun My blood stains Under the Gun My minds been burnt to a cinder Under this Sun Death seems warm and tender
