Story behind the song
I wrote the two first lines of this song after a breakup I had. Actually it wasn't even a breakup, it was just a girl I liked and we had an argument and I realized we weren't right for each other. I was really upset about it and this was the first song I wrote. I memorized the first two lines and the melody until I got home and played it on the ukulele I had. Eventually the rest of the song came to me. Really the first song I wrote so I love it
Lyrics
Well I’m feeling sort of low God knows I’m trying to take it slow And I know that lately, I’ve been soundin’ crazy So I hope that all my plans Don’t go buried in the sand And I hope that I don’t Have to let you go Well I’ll be waiting for a long, long, time in the line which is your arms With burning and fire and music and your lips And bells from the armies cause I swear I swear they used to be my friends. So listen to my voice And it’s like I have a choice Cause I would do anything to take it back And I was so close I could still make this Your lips saved me from the apathy And I know and I know and I know and God knows That I’ll be waiting for a long, long, time in the line which is your arms With burning and fire and music and your lips And bells from the armies cause I swear I swear they used to be my friends. I swear they used to be my friends So won’t you be more than my Friend?
