I'm Joe Johnson a local United Methodist Pastor. Before I felt God calling me into the ministry I thought I was going to be a rap artist. For 8 years I did nothing with music until my wife introduced me to a group called "The Gospel Gansters" in 1998. It was an eye opening experience. I was amazed to see people using rap for the glory of God. That day I picked up paper and pen and I haven't put it down yet.
Story behind the song
Our church runs a summer program called the Lawrence Youth Corps. Every few years I make a new youth corps rap. This is my newest offering. It was exactly 14 hours from when I first started working on this to when I finished it in the studio

The youth corps is an outreach ministry of lawrence United Methodist Church and teaches respect and responsibility through community service, teamwork and leadership skills.
