On August 6 and August 9 of 1945, the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by atomic bombs. These explosions killed resulted in the deaths of over 200,000 people and the almost total destruction of two large cities. These explotions, also brought the world into a new dangerous nuclear arms race that has continued over the past 7 decades. Nine nations now possess more than 15,000 nuclear weapons posing a threat to all mankind.
