Story behind the song
They say, there are 8 million stories in the naked city. However, between both sides, the truth is usually found somewhere in the middle. That makes 24 million stories and here are 2 of them.
Lyrics
I just got shot by a cop, on my own block / claims he yelled stop, but he never did, thought I was a stick up kid.
I just had to pop my Glock, out on the block / Yelled stop, but he never did, must've been a stick up kid.
I just got shot by a cop, on my own block / claims he yelled stop, but he never did.
I just had to pop my Glock, out on the block / Yelled stop, but he never did, must've been
a stick up kid.

It was a good day. My born day. Turned 22 and felt okay.
Got a Spaulding, shorts, and Chuck Taylor shoes. What's even better, the hood called a truce.
So I hit the court, ball in my hand. I'd just shoot around, well that was the plan.
About a hour in and here come Willis. He's in full sprint, so it ain't my business.
I turned away and put my beats in. My mind focused on dribbling.
That's when 5 pulled up, but I didn't notice. Already you can tell that my story's hopeless.
See Will hit a lick just up the street. So they were out for any nigga that was on two feet.
They slammed their doors, that's what caught my attention. With a glance you could tell they were on a mission.
So I grabbed my ball and I hauled ass. They were never gonna catch me I was way too fast.
That's when I hopped the fence and heard shots rang out.
Lit up at an early age. But, it didn’t ricochet like Luke Cage.
(Chorus)

Stick up kid, fingered by the kid he stuck up / trying to get his bucks up, out looking for a come up.
I snuck up, so he started kickin' dust up. / Caused a ruckus, as he ran, couldn't see his hands, he tried to duck us.
I caught up. I'm a cop! Stop! He didn't pull up. / Through a pitch black alley, over a fence went his Chucks up.
Where's the backup? Climbing fast, I saw a flash. / He swirled around, left me flummoxed.
Do or die, it's him or I, so his lucks up. / A gang sign, he chunked up.
What audacity! I shoot to kill the way they teach at the academy. / Too late to re-litigate an unavoidable tragedy.
An unfortunate calamity, / transpiring more often than just sporadically.
So thankful I made it back to my family / and someday may live long enough to have seniority. A top priority. It has to be.
(Chorus)

That's a thing I never did, I've never done, never stuck up anyone / never even owned a gun, so why they got me on the run?
Here I come, obey the force like Obiwan / I beam'em up like Scottie, collecting thugs like Pokemon.
Like Trayvon, left me stunned out on the curb, blood waters the earth's herbs / shoot first, no questions, I'm not protected, or served.
See no evil, speak no evil, no evil is heard / Lady Justice can see nothing. I just follow her word / Live by the sword, die by it. Took a vow to eradicate the earth of this scourge.
Word to mother, will I see her again? Hold her hand again? / Wondering if we will ever have a dance again. When I'm gone, will she ever even laugh again.
Call an ambulance, I had to blast that man / after giving him much more than only half a chance.
