Story behind the song
An Americana/Texana song about a parent trying to explain an impending divorce to a very young daughter. I recorded this song a few weeks ago. At the time, I recorded it at home and thought that I had done ok with it. I asked Michael Zaneski if he wanted to re-work it because he always improves songs. I redid the vox and sent him dry stems. He added instrumentation and backing vox and production. Today I got the re-worked version back from him and felt like it was so much better than what he started that it should be posted giving credit to him for his talent and input.

But sometimes life and dreams go separate ways.
Callie...that's what happened today.
Verse 1
Mom and I tried and tried and tried but we just can't seem to make things right.
We've given up.
Divorce is the worst thing I'll ever go through. The Worst of the worst is telling you,
We've given up
Sometimes adults can't get along. The best they can do is no more wrong.
And then move on.
Through all this, what's most clear, what matters most that I hold most dear,
is my little one.
Chorus 1
Callie when I look in your eyes I feel like I'm dying.
I don't have a good reason why, you should stop crying.
I'm reaching for one word at a time 'cause I know that I'm lying.
I don't have a good reason why you should stop crying.
Verse 2
So cry little girl, when your tears do clear, we gotta talk about where we go from here
You and me.
Just 'cause mom and I broke in two, nobody's gonna stop lovin' you.
You're gonna see.
(I) May not be there when you go to bed, but close your eyes and in your head,
Look for me.
Though not there, I'm never far. Lay your hand on your beating heart and
feel me, feel me, feel me.
Chorus 2
Chorus (Instrumental)
Chorus 3
Outro
I don't have a good reason you should stop crying.
I don't have a good reason you should stop crying.
I don't have a good reason you should stop crying.
(fade out)
