The Official Backstory
This is a song about Jade.
Shortly after we broke up I developed the unintended habit of going for walks aimlessly to be alone with my thoughts so to try to work things out. Very often these walks would go on without any intended destination for hours on end. I'd often travel several towns away from home, only to walk all the way back. Sometimes I'd end up somewhere and stay the night. I never knew what would happen, nor have planned for it. These walks were less enjoyable in the winter.
One such winter night I did see Jade go by in the passenger seat of a passing car. By the time I did get home that night, this song was written, as was another called "I Walk This Mile".
