Decaying Orbit is an experimental, unorthodox, highly diverse & genre-splitting band from Texas led by their infamous front man Mike Ash. "No, this music's not about that, it's not about sound quality, it's about passion." - Mike Ash. Decaying Orbit is produced by their label, Decaying Enterprises Productions and has released many studio albums since they formed in 2008, after the violent break up of the Psychedelic Rock band, Strangefire, of which Mike was the former front man.
Decaying Orbit believes in unadulterated musical & creative freedom, Mike describes their music as a "cathartic purge" or "nervous break downs caught on tape.". The band believes that creating music is a sacred, spiritual and magical art form brought to them by the Muses, wraiths and demons hidden just beyond the veil between the worlds of the physical and spiritual realms. Decaying Orbit has traveled beyond the veil and into the realms of the spirits, only to reemerge, like a caterpillar from it's cocoon emerging as a beautiful butterfly, so does Decaying Orbit get reborn through the fire of their cacophonous tunage. The band believes in complete freedom of lifestyle, I.E. sexuality, religion, spirituality, drugs, manner of dress etc. They believe that music is an interstellar language that needs no translation to be understood by absolutely anyone. It's the passion behind the emotions found in the music that matters to Decaying Orbit, they believe that integrity is more important than fortune or fame. This is our Decaying Orbit & we do hope that you will N'Joy tha' show!!!!
Story behind the song
I wrote this song when my Dad was in the hospital almost dying of heart failure. things looked pretty bleak at the time and I was preparing for the worst. So, this jam is for my Dad, who has since gotten a heart transplant and is doing wonderfully!!! Blessed Be!!!! a remix of this song By Aloka is available on the Decaying Orbit album, "The Destruction Of Something Beautiful" - I retitled the remix "The Anomaly" - it just seemed fitting because it was such a very odd remix that worked somehow. I recorded this song live at S&M Studios in 2007 and it was featured on the Mike Ash album, "ASHLIVE" - a collective of live material that I recorded during rehearsals and jam sessions sometime between 2006 & 2008. The sessions started just days after the suicide of my long-time best friend, Woody. These live recordings were my way of dealing with my pain, loss and grief. it was a major cathartic purge recorded digitally. I Dedicate this jam to my Dad, he's a retired Methodist Deacon, believe it or not, he has been my inspiration to be a writer ever since I was a little kid, I would watch him write his sermons and mimic him on a toy type writer lol!!!! I just wish that we could see eye to eye on more things, but he's my Dad, NOT my homie!!!! lmfao!!! so, I guess it's just whatever!!! but Dad, This jam is for YOU!!!
Lyrics
(this is pretty much a Mike Ash tune anyway, I mean, you know, if I can remember how it's done....)
some hold over in cyber space,
some digital interface,
I don't know if I've been around, born to fly, just fell to the ground,
where you go when you say goodbye,
wondering when, I've just been wondering why,
wondering how, how to make it right, to make it right,,,
out of tune and out of sight, holding back what's held inside,
skipped a beat and missed the cue,
fell asleep waiting here for you,
'where you go when you say goodbye,
wondering when, I've just been wondering why,
wondering how, how to make it right, how to make it right...
don't you, said don't you know, now it's not the same,
no it's not the same,
don't ya', don't you know that it's not the same, no it's not the same...
smash it up, just lay me down, I don't know why I scream so loud,
all the time, but not quite all the way, if all I've seen isn't everything...
where you go when you say goodbye, wondering when,
I've just been wondering why, wondering how,
how to make it right, how to make it right....
said don't ya',don't ya' know, now it's not the same,
no it's not the same...
don't ya', don't ya' know that it's not the same,
no, it's not the same...
some hold over in cyber space, some digital interface,
I don't know if I've been around, born to fly, just fell to the ground....
