Story behind the song
The Prague Spring (Czech: Pražské jaro, Slovak: Pražská jar) was a period of political liberalization in Czechoslovakia during the era of its domination by the Soviet Union after World War II. It began on 5 January 1968, when reformist Alexander Dub?ek was elected First Secretary of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KS?), and continued until 21 August 1968 when the Soviet Union and other members of the Warsaw Pact invaded the country to halt the reforms. My father belonged to the leading reformist in the economical domain, and the right hand of the famous economist and Minister of Economy during "the Spring of Prague", Ota Sik. We had to leave the country. The picture of a kite is metaphor of freedom which we dreamt on and on even after the emigration. Because you can steal a country but never the dream of a man.
