Lyrics
It Was a Holy Night
A child was born in Bethlehem, as many children were
And though his parents came from far away
It was not their plan that brought them there
And it was not their plan to stay
What would bring a mother with a child to be brought forth
To travel to a town so far from home?
It’s easy to explain, we’re told — coincidence, no more
A chance of time, a twist of fate, an order sent from Rome
But that trip was not coincidence, for God planned it all along
He picked the place, he set the time, he even sent the light
The music came from heaven, the celebration from the hills
And everyone involved would say: It Was A Holy Night
They named the baby Jesus, as they’d been told to do
His first bed was a manger, there was no room inside
God knew that strange beginning simply could not be contained
It had to be an outdoor party so the shepherds could preside
No that trip was not coincidence, for God planned it all along
He picked the place, he set the time, he even sent the light
The music came from heaven, the celebration from the hills
And everyone involved would say: It Was A Holy Night
And everyone who sees agrees: It Was A Holy Night
