Cathy Wetzel, originally from Littleton, Colorado, moved to Iowa in 1975. She was in a local band called CaFaye for 12 years with her husband Jerry, which is where she met Gregory who was their bass player and best man at their wedding. She has written many songs over the years that reflect the trials and successes of her life, which she has woven into a musical play and hopes to record it. She is currently in the band Rose ‘N Thorns that plays in the Quad Cities.
Gregory Payton- I've been a Musician since my early teenage years. I started out wanting to be a guitar player and that was the first instrument that I owned.
I switched to the bass after some friends and I wanted to put a band together and there was no one to play bass.
My father was a well known musician in the area and had a band called the "Dukes of Rhythm" and the bass player had an old bass he wasn't using and gave it to me.
So, that was the start of my musical career.
