This is my own version of the fabulous song, Poor Moon, by Canned Heat from 1969.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
Poor Moon, is an odd kinda song...inspired by the possibility that the USA actually were planning to explode a bomb on the Moon. Not only that, Russia was also planning on doing the same. Oh boy, what do they think causes the tides in the ocean...and that's only one thing! The plans were called Project A119. Google it... Anyway, it's a groovy track and i enjoyed having a go at it. I believe that it was Alan (Blind Owl) Wilson who sang the lead vocals and not 'The Bear'.

A really great blast-from-the-past!! this captures the vibe of the tune perfectly, along with "blind owl" Wilson's unique vocal approach, it's all here. great work David!!!

This one is new to me, never heard the original. In a strange kind of way I'm glad I didn't know about it before...it's a terrifying thought that anyone would do something destructive on the moon. Your version sounds excellent to me...and very different from anything you have covered before.
