Sing for the Morning

I wrote this song in January of 1986 but never notated or recorded it. Thanks to Band in a Box and TC Helicon's harmonization tools for the backing and processing help - much faster than organizing a real band. Someday - real instrumentation!

Story behind the song
"Sunrise," while poetic is linked to the archaic notion that the Sun rotates around the Earth. This is an attempt to reframe the idea of sunrise as a function of the Earth turning on its access. Of course, most of us know that but we don't always think of it that way. A little mixed meter adds some interest to the tune.
Lyrics
Slowly the Earth turns 'round toward the morning away from the dark of night. Stars fade away as dawn grows ever he closer bringing the morning light. The faint glow of morning sun on the horizon, Telling the world another day has begun; Life-giving light and warmth for the soul of the Earth. Morning, Sing for the Morning. Morning, Sing for the Morning. Little by little the sky grows ever brighter as nighttime turns into day. Minute by minute the Earth comes to life, birds singing as if to say, "It's time to awaken from your night of slumber. Live out your dreams and always remember morning is such a magical time of the day." Morning, Sing for the Morning. Morning, Sing for the Morning. Morning, Sing for the Morning. Morning, Sing for the Morning.
