LC 13 Paragon
Love Dance-Pop Track | LC 13 Paragon by Steve Franks and Martin Stirrup | Free Download
Something of a power-pop ballad
Steve left behind a sheaf of lyrics and a laptop full of unrelated and mostly incomplete musical noodles. This is my attempt to stitch the two together. RIP
My Long time friend and musical collaborator died last November after a long struggle against cancer. He left behind a sheaf of lyrics and a laptop full of unrelated and mostly incomplete musical noodles. This is my attempt to stitch the two together... I had fun doing it, I hope you enjoy the results.... Martin Stirrup July 2020

Story behind the song
Just the lyrics from Steve but I did use one of his power pop noodles for the feel. This is an old lyric written on paper from his first job 50 years ago, so it could be personal! I added a final verse.

IntroEF#m A EF#m AAB7 and fill
Verse:AAB7B7B7B7AB7
C#mC#mG#mG#mAEC#mBB7 stop
Im About as useful as a straightened out paper clip
together as a rolling drunk
Im feeling kinda low, since you let me know
Im as attractive as a pregnant skunk
Youre as lovely as a sparkling waterfall
And as warming as a roaring flame
It comes as no surprise, youre an angel in disguise,
I just wish I knew the rules of your game
Break:AEC#mG#mF#mG#mABB7 stop
I got this feeling that you just dont love me
Since you let my tyres down flat.
Now Im cycling all around, this cul-de-sac town
Trying to find just where youre at
Instrumental verse
Oh youre treating me so cruel
And I really just dont know why
I feel such a fool, such a doggone tool
Every time I look you in the eyes
You think Im as honest as a politician
About as funny as a ruptured spleen
And theres nothing I can do, to really get to you,
A has-been who never quite has been.
Now Im gonna limp off homeward
Since you kicked where it hurts
Theres gotta be some girl, gonna brighten up my world
Instead of stirring up my dirt.
Are you taking my love for granted
Or just taking me for a ride
Dont play the role of some innocent soul
Theres more youre hurting than my pride
