D Camp's fictitious chamber orchestra. Composed or re-arranged by D Camp. Enjoy.
I am Mr D Camp. My hobby is composing and arranging tunes using music software. Ever since I could listen to music, I always wished I could re-arrange it. I did not have a group of musicians. Now in the computer age with music software I am able to listen to what I hear in my head. The 178th street chamber orchestra is my fictitious group of virtual musicians who sometimes collaborate with other fictitious groups such as the Bathgate Avenue Boys Choir or the Beneath-the-Expressway Rhythm Kings. I compose original tunes. I re-arrange existing tunes. I try to keep these as short as possible. Two minutes is an epic. Some are easy listening. Some are experimental. I do this for my personal enjoyment but I hope you enjoy too. Thank you.

Story behind the song
These are the liner notes that I was writing January 6, 2021. I was interrupted when insurrectionists stormed the U.S. Capitol. "As opposed to my recent Wassail Song, Silent Night is perhaps the most popular Christmas carol. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Gruber in Oberndorf, Austria just outside Salzburg where we had hoped to visit in 2020. Today is January 6. Día de Los Reyes. Epiphany. 12th day of Christmas. In fact a couple of days ago my true love sent to me ten lords a-leaping. Of course Amazon delivered them to the wrong address. The homeowner was not amused when she looked out her window she saw all these guys with white wigs jumping around on her front lawn. Englewood police were forced to intervene. My true love canceled the order and I received a nice tie instead. Oh yeah. The music. OK. What's a descant? I don't know. When I was a kid I was in the Tremont Methodist Junior Choir (178th street and Washington Ave), the choir teacher taught us a 2nd tune for Silent Night that she called a descant. The smart half of the choir sang the descant. Somehow I remembered it. I assigned the descant to the tubular bells. I wrote a 2nd descant for the flute so that the song would be longer that the liner notes."
