Story behind the song
Song Spotlight Maybe: Maybe is track 5 on the 2021 Infused album, Auto Epiphany. The words and music were composed by Rod Skelley. The recording on Auto Epiphany features Shawn Huss on vocals and acoustic guitar, Dave Carles on bass and Rod Skelley on electric guitar and drums. Maybe is an emotional song that inspires us all to help those the world gave up on and forgot. The song is a deeply personal song by Rod Skelley and embodies some of the feelings he had when he wrote the song....being flooded by guilt and responsibility for the way the world took people down and wanting to do something about it, but being overwhelmed by the idea of trying. The song was written by Rod in his early 20s but he thought that the lyrics were too personal for the band to use. It was originally written on acoustic guitar with the opening riff being the inspiration for the song. Rod remembers playing that riff when he was alone playing his guitar and thinking about life. Although the music seems sad at times, it truly is a song of hope and the importance of compassion. The video for the song was created by Rods wife, Bonnie and she was able to capture the spirit of the songs meaning. Lyrics for Maybe: Chorus: Maybe there is hope, maybe there will be peace Just maybe if there is faith, maybe therell be peace 1.The night is silent in its response. Just as silent as our response to pain. I get the feeling we are flawed. As we justify our mistakes. We are all responsible for every life that is thrown away. What does it matter, we never change. What really matters when we dont care? 2.Trying to find a way. To be myself, and not be alone. Trying to care. Trying to be real. I refuse to look away. I refuse to accept. I refuse to exploit. I reject the strong. 3.And yet I doubt all I say I believe. I am just a fool? What do I know of truth? I see the falling rain. I see the shining sun. I see a dying world. I see the light of hope.
