D Camp's fictitious chamber orchestra. Composed or re-arranged by D Camp. Enjoy.
I am Mr D Camp. My hobby is composing and arranging tunes using music software. Ever since I could listen to music, I always wished I could re-arrange it. I did not have a group of musicians. Now in the computer age with music software I am able to listen to what I hear in my head. The 178th street chamber orchestra is my fictitious group of virtual musicians who sometimes collaborate with other fictitious groups such as the Bathgate Avenue Boys Choir or the Beneath-the-Expressway Rhythm Kings. I compose original tunes. I re-arrange existing tunes. I try to keep these as short as possible. Two minutes is an epic. Some are easy listening. Some are experimental. I do this for my personal enjoyment but I hope you enjoy too. Thank you.

Story behind the song
Recently I watched a movie and the end credits music used a full orchestra. Nothing earth-shaking there but I thought let me try that. Shenandoah, the American folk song, was the first thing that popped into my head. Should be easy. Right? No. I googled. No two versions have the same chords. One version has shifting time signatures 4/4 to 3/4 and back. I did my best. The strings play a short intro. First chorus is French horn and 2 trombones. Second is variations on the melody by the winds: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon. Third chorus brings everyone together. There is a hint of Aaron Copeland's Appalachian Spring. The movie that inspired this was Wonder Woman 1984. The first movie was a World War I movie and was not bad. Sixty-five years later she looks 3 years older. I don't get it I must have missed one of the pre-requisites.
