Floating and drifting
Your head is peaking through the clouds
My spirits you were lifting
Unaware, I was just a member among the crowds
Hung around too long
Bringing me back to your beating
A nightmare gone wrong
Haunted by your generous greeting
Such a fool I was and the lessons I learned
These thoughts and feeling I hope won’t soon be returned
Your smile and laugh
It pulls you in then cuts you in half
Believing this false hope
I trailed and followed you like a lost dog
I tried to run and hide but you pulled me back by the rope
Fighting my way but sinking deeper in this bog
I lost myself over you
My confidence was completely torn
Self-Control had all but faded through
Falling back on everything I’d sworn
But now when you appear
There’s nothing; there’s no fear
I see what’s taking place
When they are all but gone, don’t come through my door
You’re someone else’s new disgrace
I’m not your fallback anymore
