Story behind the song
This song is about dealing with death and surrendering to a higher power. It is also dedicated to my late friend, Eric Robert Deloe, whose courage inspired everyone that knew him.
Lyrics
though my fate is taunting me
with all its deadly shadows
your sweetest rain will fill me up
and i will not be shallow
it's a bitter irony
that your love will cover me
not waver
even when i doubt your majesty
you accept my many flavors
for king and country i confess
despite my faults i've been blessed
i lift my hands
surrender it all
before my God and king
i fall, i fall
the comet of my pride spins out of control
and i call the sky
i scream to the clouds, the stars, the moon
your face oh so high
i tasted death last fall
lost all self control
the tears, it tears
a silent stranger told me
i lost a friend at eighteen years
for king and country i cry out
swallow my pride, fight through the doubt
i lift my hands
surrender it all
before my God and king
i fall, i fall
well if you are sorry
you can be sorry
it's not up to you
and if you are crying
you can be crying
there are reasons beyond you
