DERICK sings with a deep and sometimes haunting passion. He began his interest in music at an early age. Started out playing guitar and later switched to drums. These are a few songs he has written, and recorded with Keith Monske during their early years. Derick (vocals and drums) and Keith (lead guitar) have shared their music for the past twelve years, playing together, playing with several bands, and later forming the band "Vanquish."

Story behind the song

The Journey of "Chance"... It all began on a Christmas Eve when my dog “Sweetie” (American Bull Dog) gave birth to a litter of pups.  Within that litter was the most adorable pup with so much spunk and personality that I decided to keep him for myself and I named him “Chance.”   After a joyful sixteen months Chance became ill and I found out he had cancer.   I wanted to give him every “Chance” for life… after all that was his name.  So we set out on this difficult journey together. I took him to a University Veterinary Hospital where they told me his outlook might be good because he was young and strong. We tried every possible treatment but to no avail… as I nursed him, watched him become weaker, and held him as he took his last breath.  I sometimes regret having put him through all the treatment, but at the same time I loved that pup and wanted to give him a “Chance.”  I would like to think that there is more to all of this, even for dogs… so “Rainbow Park” is for my dog Chance.
