Story behind the song
This song was composed on 7/23/2025. It is my 4th attempt of putting myself in the place of the recipients of Christs letters to the Asian churches in Revelation 2 and 3. Of course, Im not actually a resident of any of these cities (some of which dont even exist anymore). But, in the songs, I try to imagine what the residents were actually going through when they received these letters almost 2,000 years ago.

I am a resident of Pergamos. I live in the place where Satan reigns.
I must overthrow him with Your Word, the sharp two-edged sword.
I cling to my faith in You. I have not denied, even when Antipas died.
Idolatry and sexual immorality surround us, luring us away from the faith.
Please, let Your Spirit abound in us, and help us to fight the good fight.
I am a resident of Pergamos, where stumbling blocks lay all around.
We seek an infusion of Your Word in us, so that living faith may abound.
We also must resist the Nicolaitans; those who pervert the truth You have taught,
As we seek to follow Your true doctrine; and work out our salvation, which You bought.
Let us overcome and find the hidden manna and receive the white stone with our new name.
By faith Ill be a resident of Heaven.
