Story behind the song

A first term song as winter approached, played in the picking style I learnt from Ray Brockman at school. This worked OK for solo guitar and vocal, so I played it a lot  from the Denmark in East Ham through to Kings Banana. Ralph Simpson would have played flute on this.

Its time for leaving on the road Ill stray

Ill be safe in the warm southern rain

Evenings are closing you live by artificial light
The birds are leaving they know its time for flight
And in their wake now Ill soon be going
Time to follow the sunshines might

Like a hypnotist the sun attracts me
