this song is not political, it's not a statement on anything that's going on and it's not a love song, lol! It's a song that celebrates freedom as that's totally worth celebrating...

some people get by with a little understanding, some people get by with a whole lot more..
think back to when the Rubettes smashed onto the scene with 'Sugar Baby Love' and pop music would never be the same again, kind of like an open invitation for ABBA to have it's wicked way...plus how the world seemed less complicated and more focussed on serious issues as opposed to Tik Tok or Instagram and if we don't think we've lost something we're crazy...but if we think it's coming back anytime soon then we are complete fools. Michael Keaton in a scene from 'Birdman' is here due to his brilliant acting abilities as well as the late great John Belushi...dig Mike & John, supreme talents for sure! can you still recall in the juke box hall when the music played and the world spun round to a brand new sound in those far off days.. in their blue suede shoes they would scream and shout as they sang the blues, let it all hang out.. rock and roll...

Story behind the song
first went to America at the age of nineteen (the same age as that of the average age of a combat soldier in the Vietnam War) I arrived in Los Angeles eight years after the fall of Saigon and I was mesmerized by it...what a fantastic experiment, this whole concept that one has a right to be happy and one is free to be anything one wants to be...I'd return approximately 10 years after that and then again 5 years after that...what appealed to me most about America was it's freedom, it was free to do whatever it's people wanted to do, - that's what this song is about.
Lyrics
pushin' back from wherever I'd been I don't remember anything I miss my old life I'm stretching out my wings to fly I don't know why but it makes me cry I don't know one thing And all I see before me is America I'm runnin' free I can't be the one to leave it now And all I know is what I saw All that's good walks out ya door I miss my old ways I took my time just to get along I took my time to write this song I confess I don't care... Well all I see now is America comin' through Comin' through for all to see I'm runnin' free now, runnin' free now Runnin' free now, Always runnin' free... And all I see before me is America I'm' runnin' free I can't be the one to leave it now All I see before me is America I'm runnin' free I can't be the one to leave it now Runnin' free now Runnin' free...
