a group of home recording musicians, recording for fun
Lyrics
She stuffed the list into her purse
And was out the door In a matter of minutes
She had overslept
The last thing she needed
Was for someone to find her sleeping
in this old place
And taken for a hobo
She walked to the corner
And stood
Watching the second hand
on her watch
The time warp would begin
In less than thirty seconds
And she’d better be ready
She looked around briefly
At her surroundings
On a nearby building
Was a tattered old poster
That announced
The beginning
Of the revolution
It pictured the key to something
The future?
But as she pondered it
The building it was affixed to
Was transformed
As if through rays of strange light
Into some futuristic monument
And as she watched
It continued to transform itself
Through several stages
Suddenly she felt her feet wet
Looking down
She saw a fluffy substance
That looked like ice cream
Oozing over the street
She picked up one foot
And then the other
But realized there was no escape
She had the urge to walk on
But all around her
Everything was alien and different
She even saw herself standing
On the opposite corner
From where she was standing
Or so it seemed
She thought she heard someone talking
And stepped off the curb
In the direction she thought was due south
Her reasoning told her
It would land her back in the present
A thousand years from now.
