I'm a songwriter who loves to collaborate with other songwriters, vocalists, musicians and producers.

For songwriters who dont sing or perform it is extremely hard to make ones mark in the music business because they dont have a platform to present and promote their work. This is more or less the situation that I, Robert Baitinger, have been confronted with since I started writing songs in 1978.

My idea is to complement my songwriting capabilities with the "helping hands" of excellent artists, musicians and innovative producers. In the age of the internet it has become easier to communicate and collaborate with musicians and producers all over the world. I am utilizing the internet and pursuing the idea of a conceptual studio band with a frequently changing lineup of artists. I call this project the "Rob B. Project" since I supply the melodies and/or lyrics of a song and other musicians/producers/songwriters contribute their talents and skills to make it come to life.

Lyrics
MORE LOOKS THAN HORSEPOWER [Instrumental Intro] [Verse] Eighteen years old in a small German town Fresh license in hand, windows rolled down Had a job to chase, a few miles far So I bought a dark red, pimped-up car [Verse] A Ford Fiesta with the rally stripes Black spoilers made it look real nice Clutch pedal shaking under nervous feet Thinking I owned every Autobahn street [Pre-chorus] Gauges telling things I didn't need to read Made a lot of noise, but didn't have the speed [Chorus] It was more looks than horsepower, of course Lowered suspension but no real force Black spoiler shining underneath the lights Flying through those small-town summer nights I learned real quick you can’t fake what’s real Dressing up the frame won’t change how you feel It still drives like any rusted ride Yeah, it was more looks than horsepower inside [Break] [Verse] That little Fiesta hardly drank a drop Ran forever on the money I got Still I’d wash and polish it every weekend Like that little Ford was my best friend [Verse] Daddy kept saying, “Son, save your cash A plain old car’ll get you there just as fast" But I was too young and too proud to hear I thought cool chrome made the road more clear [Pre-chorus] Round dash dials glowing red and green Trying way too hard to be some machine [Chorus] It was more looks than horsepower, of course Lowered suspension but no real force Black spoiler shining underneath the lights Flying through those small-town summer nights I learned real quick you can’t fake what’s real Dressing up the frame won’t change how you feel It still drives like any rusted ride Yeah, it was more looks than horsepower inside [Bridge] Funny how the things we think will make us proud Turn into the lessons we laugh about now That little Fiesta never won a race But it helped a young man find his place [Interlude] [Final chorus] It was more looks than horsepower, of course All shine and style but no real force Still I’d give anything for one more ride With those rally stripes running down the side ’Cause growing up means learning over time What turns your head won’t always change your life But every young heart needs a dream to drive Even if it’s more looks than horsepower inside [Outro] Yeah, more looks than horsepower inside
