Story behind the song
This song is about my quasi-existentialism, and how it affects my relationships. It was written after leaving my old band, but it is not entirely coming from that experience. It is more an open letter to the people that know me. This song is also tied to The Cure's "Killing an Arab" in that it is influenced by Albert Camus novel "The Stranger"
Lyrics
My Apology Come on, you know I still love you when I’m gone. You’re wrong to think that I’ve been lonely all along. Don’t want to change what I’m doing. So long, you won’t think more of me than I of you. Not gone, but I am not the kind to find my time with you. Don’t want to change what I’m doing. Even if you moved next to me, it’s like you’ve gone to sea. When I fall asleep at night, I hope you’re sailing alright. Carry on along with them. Carry on the one rhythm. Carry on alone we’ll then. Carry on among my friend. How come I feel so great and so alone? I know it’s my own fault for I never phone. Don’t want to change but I’ll do it. This song is my apology the only way I know how. My friends mean everything that’s what I know now. Don’t want to change but I’ll do it.
