From Folk to Country to Blues and most places in between ... original, traditional and the best of the rest ... tongue firmly in cheek ... hearts on their sleev
DON'T PANIC! is Jennifer Ives (Jives) and Bob Ardern (Homeless Bob). Bob and Jennifer met at the centre of the Simcoe County musical universe - Don's Coffeehouse - in April 2001. From the start, Jives and Bob realized they were musically attuned (so to speak). They share a love and respect for all things folkie. They knew they were going to be good friends when Jennifer quoted a line from a Cheryl Wheeler song and Bob sang the next line without missing a beat. They are both incorrigible grammar fanatics and neither of them would dangle a participle on a bet! Add to that a love for Douglas Adams's "The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy" and the collaboration was inevitable.

Lyrics
Wholly Grail (Jennifer Ives) Within the walls of Camelot the holy grail was found In the trembling fingers of a ragged vagabond. Traveller and a troubadour Prisoned in his room Which, when the siege was ended, sealed his tomb. High in minstrels' gallery, Guenivere looked on As the scripts blew away from Their medieval passion play. Lyric and harmony sailed to the stained glass sky To crash and burn in the light of day. For the feasting left him empty. Bottle kept him dry. Hunger filled his soul and vision dimmed his skies. Desire slaked the demons; wrote the lines between the words Salt water fell from his eyes. Betrayal left him heartless, breathless at the last. No vision of the future...fragile memories of the past. Lancelot ran bleeding through the Burghers and the Dames Naked to the world in his sorrow and shame. And we listened to the music. Never heard the song. Questions and the mysteries which haunted for so long. Consumed by frost and fire, this hollow, aching husk, Took a gasping breath and blew himself away. Consumed by frost and fire, she stumbled to the river And became the journey, the vessel and the tide. Betrayal left her heartless and breathless at the last And drifted her, unguided, to the sea. For the feasting left her empty. Bottle kept her dry. Hunger filled her soul and vision dimmed her skies. Desire slaked the demons; wrote the lines between the words Salt water fell from her eyes. Salt water fell from her eyes.
