This is a childrens song I wrote for my little brother's 3rd grade class. They were reading a book called "Flat Stanley".
Mellow collection of acoustic guitar songs. Love, depression, happiness and cheesiness ;-)
Story behind the song
My little brother was reading a book called "Flat Stanley" in his 3rd grade class. Stanley was a little boy who got flattened by a bulletin board. He wanted to travel all over the world but his parents couldn't afford to send him. But since he was as flat as a piece of paper they would just put him in an evelope and mail him where ever he wanted to go. Each kid in the class had to mail their own Flat Stanley to someone they knew and then Flat Stanley had to stay with that person for a couple weeks and do stuff, then mail Stanley back home. While Stanley was here, we wrote a song :D
Lyrics
I’ve been around the world
I’ve seen a lot of things
In my mind is where I keep my dreams
I don’t travel in a plane
I don’t travel by a car
In the mail, is how I go so far
Wrap me up in an envelope
Send me to the places I wanna go
And when I get to tired
And I want to come home
Send me back to Mrs. Johnson’s room
I had a lot of fun
In the time that I was gone
I missed my dad and I missed my mom
Brought back some souveniers
That I hope you think are neat
I hope they make you all go, “Sweeet!”
Wrap me up in an envelope
Send me to the places I wanna go
And when I get to tired
And I want to come home
Send me back to Mrs. Johnson’s room
Well I guess I have to go
Because this song is almost done
I wonder where I’ll go my next vacation
As flat as I can be
But it’s easy for me to see
We’ll have fun, yes you and me
Wrap me up in an envelope
Send me to the places I wanna go
And when I get to tired
And I want to come home
Send me back to Mrs. Johnson’s room
Yeehaw!
I wonder where I’m gonna go next?
I hope it’s some place fun!
Like Austrailia, or France.
Or the North Pole!
Don’t forget to put stamps on my letters now!
They won’t mail me without stamps
Woah now, don’t throw me around!
