Story behind the song
I shared the idea behind this song with some songwriting friends and they felt the song should be a country song because of the title. I went the Jazz/R&B route. Hopefully this element will add to this song's appeal.
Lyrics
it took me a year to get over you now you're at my door feelin' sad and blue you don't understand why i had to leave i think you know why i left 'cause you ain't right i grew tired of sleepin' with tears in my eyes love ain't a game to play it's a way of life i left 'cause you ain't right i still recall how the phone would ring then off you'd go without sayin' a thing hours would pass and when you'd return i'd see her in your eyes (repeat chorus) (repeat chorus) i was hot you were cold i was high you were low you were breakin' my heart i couldn't take it no more (repeat chorus) (repeat chorus) don't try to explain i've heard it before you can't give love so i walked out your door i know in my heart i'll fall in love again and now i must say goodbye (repeat chorus) (coda)
