Lyrics
She thinks that was all she planned to say She checks that her bags are in their place Then tightens her coat around her waist But she don't know why, she don't know why She says to him their love was not enough She hates to let him down, she knows it's kind of rough All the while there's a twisting in her gut But she don't know why, she don't know why Ooh, she don't know why, but she's got to get away Her hand is reaching for the door But she don't know why, she don't know why She turns to him, but he's no longer there He's back by the bed stuffed in a chair She starts to go to him, but suddenly she's scared She don't know why, she don't know why So she goes through the door knowing they Haven't said the parts they were supposed to say She stands there a while, then she walks away She don't know why, she don't know why Ooh, she don't know why, but she's got to get away She's pushing down the corridor But she don't know why, she don't know why Down on the street the traffic's crawling The northeast wind begins to blow For just a moment she thinks he's calling That he's not going to let her go Oh, no, she don't believe he'd ever let her leave When a dozen times before he's followed her But upstairs he shuts the door, he don't want this anymore This time he'll let her get away © 1997 Hunter Payne / all rights reserved Samgita Publishing ASCAP
